Sinopsis
Andrew Dempsey devoted a decade to studying Juan Rulfo's photographic archive, which comprises around 6,000 images. He was later joined by Daniele De Luigi, and together they selected 100 of them. This catalogue-book is the first to draw on knowledge of the entirety of Juan Rulfo's archive and brings together the majority of the genres he explored, carefully balanced: Mexico's buildings, the country’s diverse landscapes, life in small towns, and portraits of artists, writers, friends, and family members of Juan Rulfo. The volume also includes two texts by Juan Rulfo: one dedicated to Henri Cartier-Bresson during the two periods of his stay in Mexico, and another on the Mexican photographer Nacho López. In addition, the editors of the selection contribute essays on Juan Rulfo’s photography from a well-informed perspective within their respective fields of expertise.
