Astrolabios en al-Andalus y los reinos medievales hispanos

This book presents the first complete study of the astrolabes made in al-Andalus and the Hispanic Christian Kingdoms during the Middle Ages as fascinating objects which portray a successful symbiosis between art and science. It approaches the astrolabe from its multiple aspects: scientific, cultural, symbolic, sumptuous and artistic. The reader will learn in detail the connexion between the astrolabes and the social, cultural and technological contexts where it was present and how it contributed to the coexistence of the various peninsular medieval cultures.
