Sinopsis

The decline. A closed world, in ruins, with neither a solution nor a dawn at sight is what is shown in The decline, the fall of the sun and great dreams in the formerly Empire of the rising sun. After the 2nd World War the instability and anguish took possession of the new Japanese generations. A universe of traditions and military lineages declined. This novel narrates the story of a confused aristocratic family and meanwhile each page explores a region of the modern Japanese consciousness. The depressed and lonely characters who touch each other tangentially are the following: A mother prisoner of the past, a man who has just arrived from the front and is an addict to drugs and the slums and a young woman who is looking for love, explanations and new ways. Individual shelters and a lot of isolation are the clues which bring us nearer to the lost paradise, a place where the setting sun besieges and exhausts characters and circumstances even to the extreme of ending with his author´s own life after the publication of this book.
