Sinopsis
Julio Martínez Mesanza (Madrid, 14 September 1955), Spanish poet and translator of the Generation of 1980. He studied philosophy, but he graduated in Italian Studies at the Universidad Complutense of Madrid. He worked in the Ministry of Culture. He was director of the Cervantes Institute in Milan and now in Tunisia. As a poet he is usually classified as the greatest exponent of the so-called epic current for his book Europa, expanded in each successive edition (1983, 1986, 1988 and 1990), although this is only part of his poetic career, which started to be known soon after the publication of the above book, so that his name was also included in the famous anthology La generación de los ochenta (1988) by Jose Luis García Martín.
