This book treats in a comprehensive and systematic manner the consistent series of changes occurring in adulthood. It intends to solve a shortcoming: while the studies on childhood, adolescence and old age abound, those on adult age are scarce, as if this age had not its specific problems and peculiarities. The text is written from the perspective of developmental psychology, but it also takes in consideration the contributions provided by sociology, anthropology, medicine or philosophy.
