Sinopsis
Carlos Marzal (Valencia, 1961) is one of the leading representatives of the poetry of experience which dominated Spanish poetry in the 80s and 90s. Many critics also included in this group the work of writers like Luis García Montero, Felipe Benítez Reyes and Vicente Gallego. Graduated in Hispanic Studies from the University of Valencia, he co-directed the journal of literature and bullfight Quites during the ten years of its existence. His poetic work reached the zenith of its success with the publication of Metales pesados, which at once won the National Award for Poetry and the Award of the Critics. In 2003 he won the Antonio Machado Prize for Poetry and in 2004 the 16th International Poetry Prize of the Loewe Foundation for his Fuera de mí. His first narrative work was his novel Los reinos de la casualidad (Tusquets, 2005), considered the best novel of the year by the literary suplement El Cultural by the newspaper El Mundo. He has translated from Valencian language the poetic work of Enric Sòria, Andén de cercanías (Pre-Textos, 1995). He has published several volumes of poetry: El último de la fiesta (Renacimiento, 1987). La vida de frontera (Renacimiento, 1991). Los países nocturnos (Tusquets, 1996).
