Sinopsis
Jaime Siles (Valencia, 1951) Spanish poet and critic. PhD in Philosophy from the University of Salamanca. He has taught at several European universities, and was director of the Casa de España (Instituto Cervantes) in Vienna. He is currently Professor of Classical Philology at the University of Valencia and president of the Spanish Society of Classical Studies. Besides poetry he also writes essays and literary criticism. The poetry of Jaime Siles is closely related within the orbit of contemporary Spanish literature to the tradition of the poetry of thought and resounds with the best manifestations of this trend throughout Europe. With its vocabulary rich in abstract terms, his poetry takes to limits unusual in our literature a word that is thoughtful and inquisitive and that faces the radical problem of being: identity. His poetic work: Génesis de la luz (1969), Biografía Sola (1971), Canon (Premio Ocnos 1973), Alegoría (1977), Poesía 1969-1980 (1983), Música de Agua (Premio de la Crítica 1983), Poemas al revés (1987), Columnae (1987), Obra poética 1969-1989. La Realidad y el Lenguaje (1989), Semáforos, semáforos (Loewe Award, 1989), Poesía 1969-1990 (1992), Himnos tardíos (Generación del 27 International Award, 1998), Pasos en la nieve (2004).
