Sinopsis
The idea of Ridiculum vitae arises from the need to sustain the NGO La Sonrisa Médica (Medical Smiles) economically by attempting on the one hand, to propose an alternative way to raise funds and on the other, to use the NGO’s very own tools, which are humour, laughter, music, fantasy, tenderness and magic. Ridiculum vitae plays with the very idea of the ridiculous to bring a smile to readers, many of whom will be prostrated by their diseases. So why not use a demonstration of intelligence, such as laughing at oneself, to provide continuity to the work of clowns in hospitals? Why not bring closer to patients important and normally very busy people, through healthy confessions of experiences that made them look and feel ridiculous? Sixty-nine public island figures, including Camilo José Cela Conde, Tomeu Penya, Rafa Nadal and Catalina Cirer, briefly relate episodes in their lives in which the common denominator was the pure ridiculousness of their situations.
