Turismo, Desarrollo y Mercosur

This study focuses, in a comprehensive way, tourism as an engine of sustainable development. It is applied to an specific region of the bloc MERCOSUR: Argentina, Uruguay and southern Brazil. In this sense, Uruguay is a link between the other two countries that currently have the largest amount of tourists in Latin America. The book analyzes the complexity of this problem since the very point of departure, and digs out the different conceptions of tourism. Also, the author reviews the bibliography and the origin of this new subject in the area of social sciences. The study has been awarded with the III International Award for Tourism Studies Gabriel Escarrer.
