Sinopsis
This textbook covers the theoretical part of the Macroeconomics I course. The topics presented develop a model for determining income that attempts to explain the economy's aggregate behaviour in the short and mid-term and the effects of economic policies on major macro-magnitudes. Units 1 and 2 are introductory and present the material as well as a brief explanation of its methodological evolution. Units 3 to 6 develop the IS-LM model, which analyses the demand side of a closed economy and is used to explain the short-term effects of fiscal and monetary policy. Units 7 and 8 extend the analysis of the demand side to an open economy through the IS-LM-BP model and show how the consequences of fiscal and monetary policies depend on an economy's exchange regime. Lastly, units 9 to 11 present an analysis of the job market that allows a closed economy's supply side to be approached from the perspective of New Keynesian macroeconomics.
